How to make fun party invitations
- 1) Decide on a theme for the party. Once you have done that choose a shape that will illustrate the theme. For example, a crown for a princess party, a ship for a pirate party, a tent for a circus party or a fish for an under the sea party. Don't feel that you have to make all the invitations identical, you can choose two or three shapes and make a mixture of different ones.
- 2) Take a piece of coloured card and a piece of patterned paper which will match whichever shape you have chosen. Place the paper onto the card and cut out the shape, this way they will be identical.
- 3) This will take a bit of your own consideration. Cut the piece of coloured paper into three pieces, one will be permanently attached to the card and the other two will become the flaps. For example, if I was making the circus tent invitation, I would cut off the triangular roof to be attached permanently to the card and the two remaining halves of the tent body would become the flaps. Maybe try with a piece of scrap paper to see which variation looks best beforehand.
- 4) Stick down one of the pieces of coloured paper to the card, as explained above.
- 5) Where the two flaps would meet, attach an information tag to the piece of coloured card. When the flaps open, this will become visible and should include all the important details of the party such as date, time and venue. Decorate the edges of this tag with pinking shears and make sure it is a colour that will complement the card and patterned paper, whilst also standing out from the background colour.
- 6) Stick the two flaps to the coloured card using either double-sided tape or a line of glue stick along the two edges of the invitation.
- 7) Finish the invitation off with a trim, sequins or a ribbon.
- 8) Write the address on the back, attach a stamp and send!
